AFIS as a collective body that represents battery importers, it is required to organize programs for recycling the batteries. More specifically it undertakes the following:
- To place bins for recycling. Bins are placed at the following categories of premises:
- Schools
- Shops
- Municipalities and other Public buildings
- Supermarkets
- Businesses
- To ensure the proper collection of batteries.
- To ensure the proper and safe temporary storage of batteries.
- To arrange the export of materials in licensed units for sorting and recycling.
- To inform the public about the need to separate and recycle batteries and about the collection network.
- To prepare reports for the State, the members and the public.
